Hi all. Its been awhile since I've posted, but I read everyday. I just wanted to post an update of my progress for those of you who were so much help along the way.

My history....I nursed my biological son until he was 15 months old, and he is almost 4 now. I mention this because I think it may have some bearing on my success with bf my newly adopted son. I did the accelerated protocol for only 19 days (the adoption was unexpected and I did not know it was possible to bf an adopted baby until late July). I had significant changes to my breasts within two weeks of starting the protocol. August was born on September 1 and I started pumping immediately. I got clear drops the first time I pumped. We brought our son home when he was 3 days old. I then spent the next week finger feeding him because I could NOT get him to latch! I was pumping 5-8x/day during this time. At last after getting a nipple shield I got him to latch with it, and after 2 days with the nipple shield he started latching w/o it! For the first month were using 6 l/a each day with 3.5oz in each bag. After he started spitting volumes up we cut back.

So now we're in the present. He is getting only 8-10 oz of formula each day and all the rest is from me! We went for his 2 month appt today and he weighs 12lb 9oz! I'm soooo thrilled, and my pediatrician thinks I'm some kind of supermom

I just want to thank EVERY single person that contributes here because I feel like I've read every post now! Even the smallest comment that you make may help someone. Below are some of the keys for me....

1. Water, water, water. This is HUGE! When I finally started to make a concerted effort to make sure I was drinking enough I could REALLY tell the difference. I always make sure that I have some within reach and always make a point to take 2 gulps instead of 1.

2. On demand feeding. I don't pay attention to the clock. If August starts to fuss, I put him to my breast. I can't tell you how many times my husband has said, "Is he eating AGAIN?"

3. Oatmeal. I'm sick of it. I eat it EVERY day. I swear I can tell the difference when I don't.

Thanks again for everyone's help!

The oatmeal is huge for me too. When we were in France all summer (no oatmeal) my milk pretty much disappeared, but when we came home and got back into our usual routine of eating oatmeal every day I had some milk again with my 2X a day nursing toddler.

Itoo am starting the accelerated protocol, since our birthmother is due Dec 13th, and I did not know about the induced lactation. Did you have any side effects with the accelerated protocol? I am the first for my Dr., he simply had not heard of it before, so I can not rely on him. Thank you, Hope

I had some breakthrough bleeding while I was on the Yasmin, but I haven't had a period since I started nursing (Sep). I will occasionally get a headache if I take the dom on an empty stomach.

Things are still going well. I had a couple of days last week where I only had to give him an ounce or 2 of formula. MTW of this week he is back up to 6 oz or so each day. I don't know if this is a variation in my supply or a growth spurt for him. He is 2 1/2 months now.
