I started the standard protocol twelve days ago, taking Ortho-Novum 1/35 every night and dom 40/mg for the first 5 days and 80 mg/day for the past week. I started breakthrough bleeding two days ago. I expected to bleed as it seems like so many others do, but I didn't expect it after only being on the protocol for 10 days. Does anyone have a comment? Is there any cause for concern?

Hi Beth,

What you are experiencing is quite common. The two times I did the protocol, I bled all the way through...it's a nuisance but well worth the effort.

In both cases, once I stopped the Ortho 1/35 and started pumping, I didn't see "aunt Flow" for a year. Since I'm still breastfeeding Ethan who has just turned 1 year old, I haven't actually seen "Aunt Flow" this time for 14 months.

Try to hang in there.

Fondly,
