Campbeta!
Congrats on your success. I have a question: Are you still taking 80mg/90mg of the domperidone or are you beginning to wean yourself from them?

Hi Tami,

I'm going to answer this question for you. Every mom is different. She has different breastmilk capacity and different response to the protocol depending on the amount of time she had to prepare in advance and the amount of pumping sessions she was able to do. Weaning off the domperidone doesn't generally occur until the milk supply is well established.

If you're worried about the effects of the domperidone, we have a pediatric dose here in Canada for infants with gastric problems. According to Thomas Hale, Ph.D. "Medications and Mothers Milk 2004", No pediatric concerns have been reported. The amount of domperidone that gets into the milk is roughly 1% of the maternal dose which ends up being far far less than the pediatric dose I've just mentioned.

I've been on domperidone now for nearly 3 years. I'm going to stay on it until Ethan is fully weaned so that we have a documented case of a breastfeeding mother who used domperidone for "years" and whose infant thrived.

Best,

Thank you so much for being a tester and helping create this whole protocal. I'm pumping 16-20 oz a day, depending on how much I pump. I was able to nurse a friend's babe over Thanksgiving while we were visiting, so she could tend to her older child at leisure. And. I'll be making at least most of the milk for our baby when s/he arrives, not to mention the pile of full bags in the freezer. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

BTW - I'm not going off the dom. until my baby is at least 6 months, and only then if my milk supply is not effected. With my first dd, the dom. did boost my milk supply, even with no protocal.
