hey there everyone. I'm having a small concern today about my 'prduction'. I am concerned because I have been eating low fat for three or four months now, and it has been working well for me up until now - I gained a fair bit of weight after a year and a half on the bcp/dom combo. But I'm wondering if its effecting my milk production. I just started pumping on Thursday night (five days ago) and it was slow going the first two days -maybe an ounce per day. Saturday night I had a special treat: a huge cheese pig out, you know brie, goat cheese, camembare! Anyway, Sunday afternoon I had good output - almost twice as before and yesterday I had almost four ounces by bed time. But today has been a struggle...I've been pumping one breast at a time today so that I could compress at the same time. It's working, but it's not the production I had yesterday. I have been eating very lean to make out for the cheese pig out and that's the only thing I can think of, other than I do tend to drink more coffee during the week - yes I know that's a no-no. Any input anyone? Suggestions? Ideas? I am very new at this, but since I had such an encouraging day yesterday, I want to keep up the good habits, you know? It's summer time until baby is home, so I'd like to 'fix' whatever I'm doing now, you know? help anyone? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

Hi LauraJeanne,

CONGRATULATIONS!!! You're doing GREAT!!

Double pumping does a better job of increasing milk supply than single pumping. And frequency of pumping is more important than duration. Try to pump at least 8 times per day and your milk supply will build and build.
