Hey ladies. I am a first time mother and I am just starting the reg protocol to induce lactation. We have twins due in July with a gestational carrier. Scares me to death to think to b/f twins and going back to work full time when they are 6 weeks old but I am going to give it my best shot. Questions:
1) I live in the US and plan on ordering domperidone over the internet (yes I am under a doctor's care but they are not comfortable prescribing the domp). Obviously I will need 1000+ 20mg pills(or do you order double the amount of 10mg pills). Any recommendations on where to order them from at discounted prices?
2) Should I rent a pump or buy one? Which pump would you recommend (price being an issue for us)?
3) Any chance I might produce enough milk to b/f twins without supplementing formula?
4) Since twins usually are delivered earlier then a typical 40 week pregnancy, should I assume they will be born at 36 weeks and just follow the protocol?
Thank you for your time ladies! Lenore .... you rock! Thank you for being such a pioneer in inducing lactation.

Kristi

Hi there -
Welcome! I'm new to the boards, but i've used this site for a couple of years now. I breastfed my adopted daughter and am now preparing to bf our next child (whenever s/he comes home).

Regarding dom - I order it from www.globaldrug.tv and order twice the amount of 10 mg pills. It's the cheapest I've found online (or anywhere). It may be worth it to you to try and find a doctor that will write you the prescription, though, if it's covered by your insurance. On global drug, they have the pills in different amounts - the more you buy the less each pill costs. I think the lowest price is nine cents per pill.

I'm having the same issue with deciding b/t buying and renting a pump. I was thinking I'd buy the medela pump in style, as that's the most recommended (It's about $250 new), but now I'm thinking I might buy one of the hospital-grade pumps approved for multiple users off of ebay. I'm thinking the Medela Lactina. It's going to be very expensive, but when I'm done with it I can resell it online and recoup most of the money.

I can't answer the other questions - but good luck!

I would get the PIS as you will be using it a lot since you are going back to work after the twins are 6 weeks Renting a pump will get quite expensive. Global drug is the place to buy your dom online. I am with the previous poster though if you can get your docs to perscribe it and your insurance covers it that would be the cheaper way to go.

afrindiemum I would buy the PIS also, I used the Lactina and didn't care for it. It is also not as portable as the PIS.

Thanks ladies for the information! I ordered the Domp today from globaldrug.tv. I bought 1800 10mg pills for $170. I guess I should hold off on buying a pump for a couple of months. I like the Medula PIS also. Thanks for the recommendations. I am sure I will have plenty of questions in the weeks to come.
<img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> I am so excited and eager to start! My entire life for the past year has been consumed by the process of IVF and my GC and making all this happen. Now that things are going perfectly and the babies are still baking in the oven, I fell like I have nothing to do. Being able to start taking the meds to induce lactation really makes me feel like I am doing something for my babies. I just pray that it works!

Hi Lalle -
Could you give me a little more information on why you didn't like the Lactina? I'm interested because I have the opportunity to buy one locally for only $300 - which I understand is a good deal. I've also heard that hospital grade pumps are better than the pump in style pumps - so I'm just wondering what you have to say about all that. Any information you could provide would be great!!!
Thanks!

The lactinas cycles are not as good as the PIS. The lactinas fastest cycle is the slowest on the PIS. Also the PIS is so much easier to carry around. I have tried them all. The only 2 I would recommend is the PIS and the new one Lenore talks about on this site its called the Limrick Jr. I LOVE this pump. I do not get any drops after pumping with hand expression. Yes I have tried this pump to <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> and it completely empties the breasts.

Sorry I hadn't been on here. Nona basically covered it on the ways lactina doesn't compare to PIS. You can buy a brand new PIS with car adaptor for less than the lactina you mention. I say go for the PIS
