This is tryingagain3, I can't login

Will I always be so sore from pumping? I've tried to turn the suction down to the lowest that will get the milk out and I've used olive oil as well, but my nipples are killing me!!

Also, will I always have to pump every 2 hrs? I am on day 17 of pumping and dom and I am making 2oz per day now. Will I always need to pump every 2 hours?

Thanks!

Boy, it gets old doesn't it??? I will tell you though the reward is great!!! The more you pump the more you make. Imitating a new babies feeding schedule is what's helping you make that two ounces you are getting now. 17 days and that much milk, you are awesome!!! I do admit I didn't get to pump every two hours and did ok. After three months of pumping I was getting about 5-6 ounces. When my daughter was three month I was getting 16 ounces. Just think about how much you will be getting after three month and let that be your encouragement.

You are doing GREAT!

CONGRATULATIONS! You're doing GREAT! Please remind me, which pump are you using?

Tryingagain3, still can't sign in.

I am using 2 different ones. The PIS which I own and the Symphony that I am renting. I keep them in different rooms so I can pump depending on what is going on in the house w/o moving everything!

I want to buy the Limerick when it's available and I am hoping it will be more comfy.

I have pumped 2 oz today and I have 3 more pumps most likely before bed! My supply is doubling about every 2 days now. I hope that trend continues!!

Dear Trying,

You're definitely on your way! This is wonderful.

For the pain, try reducing the suction some more. It shouldn't be necessary to go past medium. Also, be sure to center the breast shields. You don't want it to hurt at all. It takes time to let-down to a pump, sometimes 10-15 minutes which is why we suggest pumping for 20-30 minutes. Moms often think they need to turn up the suction right away when they start pumping to get milk out right away. But the way most moms proceed is to turn the suction up slowly, starting before medium for the first 5 minutes and then turning it up to medium.
