I saw this website and thought some of you who are pumping and saving milk maybe interested in checking these out. It was a banner on the Mothering DotCom board. I don't anything about them other than they look interesting.

HI Lalle,

Thank you for posting this as it give me an opportunity to warn moms against usuing ice cube trays or similar containers to store their milk. The problem with these devices is that they leave your milk vulnerable to freezer born bacteria. The Human Milk Banking Association of North America does not recommend this type of storage because of this. One milk bank in the US was forced to dump a whole lot of breastmilk and re-sterilize it's facility after a batch of milk was found to contain this bacteria. The breastmilk storage bags do not tend to harbor this bacteria because they are individually closed as opposed to a lid over the top of several containers grouped together in a tray. The same goes for storing baby food. You're better off using small containers or even the breastmilk storage bags to freeze and store homemade baby food.

Best,

oh that is good to know. I was thinking they used these to freeze the milk then stored the frozen milk sticks in freezer bags. But I guess that would solve the bacteria issue would it? Well, I am glad I posted too so we could all learn NOT to use these <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
