OP dedicated member D Joined: Jun 2006 Posts: 20	Well, I am FINALLY a mom! We did indeed adopt our baby girl on July 25th! We have named her Brooke Nicole and she is absolutely beautiful. I am having trouble breastfeeding though. She is two weeks old and has been on formula. I have not been able to get her to latch on AT ALL. I have also had trouble finding the time to pump like I should, due to taking care of this wonderful little miracle named Brooke <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> When I do pump, I add whatever I get to her bottles. What should I do? I'm just about ready to give in and continue with formula.

They can help you get her latched. Do you have a lact-aid? Babies go where the milk is and if you can get help getting her latched and she is getting milk from you then she will be content to not have a bottle. Don't give up. Looks like that window we spoke about not long ago has finally opened for you. It's very important that you arrange an appointment with a board certified lactation consultant ASAP. You can find one here: www.ilca.org Just click on the "Find a Lactation Consultant" at the top of the page. Babies learn to breastfeed by breastfeeding. Supplementation, if necessary needs to be done at the breast. Every day you continue to bottle feed is another day away from the breast. This baby needs to feel you skin to skin, chest to chest as much as possible. The IBCLC will assist you to latch your baby and show you how to use the supplemental feeding system. You can do it!!!
