so, i'm double pumping with a PIS now and have been for the past couple weeks. I increased my doseage of Dom to 120mg/day based on some research and I'm taking the Motherlove tincture with goat's rue, fennel, fenugreek and blessed thistle four times a day.
I'm still only getting maybe an ounce total every day with pumping. It's to the point that my partner's baby will not latch on me unless it's at night in her sleep. I'm getting frustrated!
I'm pumping about 8 times a day, 10 to 20 mins each time.
Can I expect taht this is the max of milk I'll have?

have you thought of getting a supplemental nurser like the lact-aid and using your partners milk in it to nurse the baby? That would certainly help bring in your supply. A nursing baby is much more efficient than the best pump on the market. You may also want to think about doing the herbs individually to get a higher concentration instead of in a tincture.

i've tried the lactaid, but the baby - who is almost 8 months - freaked out over the tubing. whereas i was able to get her to latch prior, once i put the lactaid on, she latched and then freaked out. ?
i'm at the point where i feel like if i have to keep pumping 8 to 10 times a day for much longer to get a good supply it is going to be too much. i'm sure she'd take my breasts if there was more milk - as it is now she's refusing me more often.
i know that she must stimulate my breasts better than the pump, and my breasts feel very very full, but hardly anything comes out. they're not engorged, but getting heavy.

Hi,
Is this a new PIS? I've never been happy with the fennel in the ticture. It's had mixed results. You're better off with the straight goats rue from the link above.
Regarding the domperidone, the highest dose we recommend is 90 mg in 24 hours. Higher doses than this can cause serious fatigue. Please discuss this with your doctor and be careful of the sources of what you read on the internet
If the information is not coming from a doctor or other health care professional, you need to take it with the preverbial grain of salt.

Have you tried latching and then slipping the tubing in? Does she take a bottle at all? Is she still nursing from your partner?

I just had a thought regarding the Lact-aid. How much tubing is getting into baby's mouth? Shouldn't be more than 3/4 inch. If it's more, it could be stabbing at the roof of her mouth or causing her to gag which can freak her out.
As Lalle mentioned, the way we do it at our clinic is latch baby first and then insert tube in corner of baby's mouth only about 3/4 inch...just long enough for the supplement to start flowing while she's sucking.
What some partners do is wear an item of clothing previously worn by the birth mom but not laundered so that baby smells birth mom's scent.
