Hello all you exerienced members out there...I have another question! I am on the regular protocol, but we are waiting for a referral which could take anywhere from one week to a year for a baby from South Africa. Once we get the referral, we will fly to SA within 4 weeks. My question is - am i better off to do the regular protocol (along with the expense, etc) or wait until referral and do the accelarated. It seems like many moms are able to produce a full supply with the accelerated, so are there advantages to doing the regular? Also, Lenore, is there any way to order dom through global drugs or anywhere else that would be cheaper (I'm in Canada)....

I will do whatever is best for baby of course, just thought i'd check. I had a dream last night that I was bf our new baby - it made me SO anxious!!! I know this will all be worth it....

I bought from global I payed $70 for I think 600. I thought it was a good price!
p.s. I did the accelerated I do not have a full supply. But that is ok with me. I did the accelerated after I had been nursing for close to a year. I did get a full supply for a one year old. But the longer you are on the protocol the better chance you have for a full supply from the start. That is why we tell moms if they have the time, do the regular protocol. The accelerated is for those who don't have a long time before their baby is born or who do the protocol after their baby is already here.

Does this mean that you started nursing when your son/daughter was one? Wow - that is encouraging as i think our baby will be a bit older too. To be honest i am a bit discouraged right now as I have no idea how old our baby will be - only that he/she will be under a year. So I am starting to wonder if I am doing all this for nothing, you know? It would be such a huge disappointment.

I started the ap about six weeks before my triplets were born. I pumped for 2 weeks. I started nursing them within an hour of their birth. I have had a full supply for all three (they are five months old now).

africa I began nursing my daughter when she was 2 days old. I used the lact-aid with formula in it. I was taking more milk herbs. I was roughly producing about 1/4 - 1/3 of her needs within a short time. I added dom and by the time she was 6-7 months I was producing maybe 1/2 She had issues with many of the formulas and my goal was to get rid of them altogether. So I went on the ap and from that point on we didn't supplement at all.
Hang in there it will be worth it. Even if your baby is older with the help of a good LC you should be able to get them nursing.
