Hi Shelley,
Congratulations on your impending arrival. Moms in your position have found that the longer they can do the bcp/domperidone combination, the more breastmilk they end up with. You need to give yourself at least 6 weeks pumping time to be in decent shape for your baby's arrival. Kindly discuss all of this with your doctor so that you can be monitored and educate at the same time.
It's also imporant to note that with today's airline restrictions, you may not be able to bring your pumped milk on board the aircraft home with you and if you have to change planes and go through security more than once during your trip home, you may be required to dump your milk before boarding because liquids from outside the secure area are not allowed on board and formula or breastmilk are not allowed unless the infant is with you. This is the current information regarding travelling with infants and children:
http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/children/formula.shtmThe other problem is that the frozen gel packs are not allowed. You can probably check your milk in a cooler but that would cut down on the bags you can take with you. One large suitcase and one cooler unless you pack the cooler one of your suitcases. The size of the cooler would depend on your milk supply at that point.
In cases for moms whose infants are travelling with them, they would need to bring an empty ziplock with them and beg some nice vendor for ice to keep their milk cold.
And then there is the issue of the breastpump which may not be allowed on board to begin with. It's important for you to check in advance with your airline and with the Transportation Security Administration to find out what you can and cannot do.
Best,
