I am trying to induce to help my sisters baby. She is going to have chemotherapy and will not be able to nurse any more. I was initially going to wet nurse, but i changed my mind. She is pumping and nursing until her first appointment. I need to get my milk going so that when she runs out of her milk I will have some to give her. I started pumping and taking fenugreek in august and nothing happened. I have an old medela PIS(it does not have the cycles on it). I pumped every two hours for twenty minutes, and I took three fenugreek pill three times a day. Birthcontrol pills make me sick, so I can't take them. I have two bio children 12 and 9 that I nursed exclusively for three years a piece. I stopped pumping for a while, because it started to overwhelm me. I started pumping again about three weeks ago, and taking domperidone. I started the domperidone about a week ago. I have had a drop or two. I take 30mg of the dom three times a day. I could not find blessed thistle, but I was told by a lc that I could take milk thistle and brewers yeast with the dom. Does anyone know how much brewers yeast and milk thistle you are supposed to take? [color:"red"] [/color]

milk thistle is not the same thing. You don't need the blessed thistle as much as you need the fenugreek with the Dom so don't fret it if you can' tfind Blessed Thistle. Are you drinking enough water and eating oatmeal a couple times a week helps too.

hi Rashidaghgr, Thank you for your post and for sharing your story with us. Many moms who cannot tollerate the birth control pill have been using Goat's rue instead: http://www.motherlove.com/product_goats_rue.phpAlthought this is not as efficient as the hormones, women report that it does help to build the milk making structures. It's important for you to obtain a good electric breastpump. The medications/herbs can only do so much. The rest is up to you and your breasts. Please keep us posted on your progress and let your sister know that she's in our thoughts and prayers. Best,
Lenore Goldfarb, Ph.D.,CCC,IBCLC Wife to Rob, Mom to Adam aged 13, and Ethan aged 9, both born via GS and breastfed via Regular Newman-Goldfarb Protocol.

I am drinking more water and drinking mother's milk tea and taking brewers yeast until I get more fenugreek. I have seen two cloudy drops today, so maybe things are happening now. I am using the Medela PIS, it is a double pump. I also needed to know what power pumping is, if anybody knows.

The goat's rue would likely be more helpful than the brewer's yeast.
Pumping 8-12 times per day for 20 to 30 minutes is what we recommend.

Hi Lenore I am getting some cloudy drops now, and it is sweet. The drops have not turned white yet, but we are making progress. I am still trying to get some goat's rue
