I have been on the Accelerated Protocol but did it for 37 days. This is now my 5th day pumping and still taking dom and started herbs ( fenugreek and blessed thistle) Drinking some mother's milk tea. OH And I have hugh headaches. I am only seeing small droplets not even enough to save. Should I be conserned? Is there anything I can do to speed things up? What can I take for my head??? Thanks for all you guys do!

are you drinking enough water? Dehydration causes headaches. Is there a healthfood store nearby? YOu could go get a homeopathic headache remedy. Lavender oil at the temples can help a headache.
As for the droplets not to worry. But if you are dehydrated things will pick up when you start drinking more.

I get headaches too from the domperidone.... I take Tylenol Arthritis... it's a little more acetaminophen per tablet and it's extended release..... on rare occasions when i get a migraine, I take my Maxalt
Your milk will build very slowly.... it's only now at 3.5 weeks of pumping, i'm noticing about an ounce increase per week! but in the beginning, i only got drops.... after a week or so i started getting ounces....
what pump do u have and how often are u pumping? i pump every 3.5 hours during the day.... I should be pumping in the middle of the night, by I have a 1 year old, and i just can't get up! LOL... so i stay up as late as I can and wake up as early as i can to pump.....I also use ALOT of compression when i pump... I only put the pump to 1 breast so as to free up my other hand so I can massage, squeeze, jiggle, whatever.... so that i drain my breast really good and get every last drop!!!
I also take those herbs........now i've added brewer's yeast... i noticed an increase the past couple days.... i now ordered Goat's Rue as well... I'm expecting triplets via surrogate so i'm trying to get this milk production cranking and fast!!!! LOLI drink lots of water and eat oatmeal every single day... have u tried that?

Tina, only putting the pump to one breast defeats the purpose of double pumping. I would pump both breasts and stop midway to do your compress jiggle shake massage.
I think the concern with what to take for headaches is what will pass into your breastmilk. I got headaches with dom too but they didn't stick around. I can't remember exactly but I think tylenol is safe during pregnancy but ibuprofen is what you tak ewhen nursing. I do remember they gave me ibuprofen after my son was born because I had terrible headaches and they said it was safe for nursing. You can probably look it up online.

It's just that this is what works for me..... I get more milk this way.... yes, it takes longer (like 25-30mins) but my sessions are more productive.... I'm allergic to Ibuprofen or aspirin, so Tylenol is my only choice.....

i had to use the accelerated protocol as well, and saw pretty much what you are seeing, it was a slow start. within a month and a half i went from drops to 16 oz. a day. I did use a double breast pump every three hours....BUT did not get up in the middle of the night to pump....and still had success. i also ate pineapple and oatmeal as I read this can help with milk production as well as two glasses of mothers milk tea per day

You all are just the best. The headache was not as bad today. (Just in the morning) I am going to continue what I am doing. I pump every 3 hours with a pump in style advanced (once during the night) and will kick in the oatmeal and drink the tea. I see more milk coming in already. YAHOO!!! Praise the Lord!

Hi Barrbie,
May I ask what dosage of domperidone are you taking?

I am taking 20mg each-four x a day. Since I have posted this it has increased to (a guess) tsp of milk at each pumping. Is there anything I can do to increase this. I am eating oatmeal once per day (breakfast) pumping every three hours. Also I feel like there is more milk in there that is not coming out. I can bring it out by hand. I started turning up a little the dial on the pump. Any suggestions? ALso is there anything you can take for gas? Thanks!

I had the same experience when I was pumping as you are having of the pump not bringing the milk out, but hand expressing it out. Are there different pumps that work better for this sort of issue? I was using a Medela Lactina.
