My husband and I started the adoption process the week after Thanksgiving of 2006, we were activated January 21st, and we had a call February 15th saying that we had been matched with a baby had been born that morning. Needless to say, I didn't have much time to learn the protocol, much less put it to use.

I bought a supplemental nursing system, and I use that at home and then we do bottles when we're out anywhere. A friend at church who used this protocol for adoptive breastfeeding gave me her leftover domperidone, and I was about to start taking it, but I was just wondering if it can still work if I'm not nursing at every single feeding?

allison you can add the dom. You just have to work up to the full dose. How much did she give you? I wouldn't start on dom unless you plan to keep taking it and order more when you run low. May I ask why you don't nurse with the lact-aid when you are out? I know at first it was awkward but you will get used to it. If you really want to produce more milk, then keeping baby at breast for most if not all feedings is far more important that adding dom.
Hope that helps answer your question.
