Hi. I'm new to this board. My name is Krista, I'm 31 and am possible having my 5th miscarriage (4th in a year and a half). I am SO frustrated because my doctor continues to find nothing substantial wrong with me but I keep losing babies. I was just starting to get hopeful about this pregnancy (today was 7 weeks) when I started cramping and passing tissue. I don't know what to do next. Do we try again? Can I handle it again? I'm really shocked at how little support there is out there online for recurrent miscarriages. If anyone knows of any other good groups or boards, etc., please let me know. I'm getting a bit tired of watching all of my online friends get pregnant and have babies when I keep losing mine.

Krista have they done any testing? Is your doc an OB?GYN or an RE (reproductive endocrinologist)? If you are n't seeigna specialis tmaybe it is time. I know Lenore has some info on the site. I will look aroudn and see if I can find mor efor you.

Thanks for the link, Laurie. I've been doing quite a lot or reading since last year when we started trying but I'll always welcome more information! My doctor is an OB but he specializes in multiple miscarriages. I think we've done just about every test we can and have only come up with the MTHFR mutation which he didn't seem really concerned about and I can't find much information on. We have an appointment on Monday to review everything that we've done (in case anything was missed) and to see where we go from here.

I noticed in your sig. that you've adopted. I would really like to start looking into adopting a baby since giving birth to one might be a tremendously long process. Do you have any info that you can share? I have no idea where to even begin the process.

We adopted our daughter from a friend. We hadn't planned it that way and had done a homestudy and were planning to use a facilitator out of California to help us match with a birthmom. Our friends called us and said one of their now adult foster daughters was pregnant and would we be interested in adopting her baby. The rest is history. It was a private adoption with just an attorney no agency.
I would love to adopt again there are a few different avenues. I like Mercy Ministries if you are a Christian. There are lots of options out there. I have heard a few women on this forum mention American Adoptions and there are numerous overseas programs. It really depends on your personal preferences.

Wow my typing in that other post was horrible. LOL I wanted to ask you if your doctor has you on progesterone suppositories after Ovulation. Or is your progesterone fine?

My doctor had me on progesterone pills this last time and my numbers looked great with every blood test. I also had a subplacental collection (like a hematoma where the embryo implanted) and he thinks that may have caused the placenta to lift and become detached.

There are many syndromes associated with recurrent miscarriage which includes hormonal abnormalities, genetic abnormalities, platelet defects etc. These syndromes are treatable. When the child is lost, it is a period of grief. But you should not lose hope.
