Hi,
I have been taking Yasmin for about 18 weeks now and after the first 4 weeks, I have been spotting continuously for all 14 weeks. I normally have a super-heavy flow, which I have not had, just annoying spotting. Does this affect the effectiveness of the protocol? I am planning to stop in the next week or two and start pumping as we are about 2 months away from our baby coming home from Guatemala so I don't want to start over.

no it does not affect the out come of the protocol. Break through bleeding is very common. Don't worry. All should be well when you start pumping

Thanks for the reassurance! Here I was hoping I would get a few months break from my "friend" and instead it never left, oh well. At least all is within normal limits. I am a little anxious to see if regular protocol gives me any different results than the accelerated protocol that I tried last year.

Does break through bleeding happen with Ortho 1/35 too?

I can't answer that one. I had a hysterectomy when I was 20. So I have no functioning insides to be able to answer that question

I would like to know the answer to that question as well... I had bleeding wtih the Yasmin last year ... filling my prescription tomorrow... if the Ortho has less chance of that maybe I will have my doc switch my script after all??

sigh... no functioning parts... I'm sure it was a terrible ordeal, and left you with issues you still have (my mom had her hysterectomy in her late 20's)... but since mine don't work how they were intended sometimes I wish just a little to not have functioning parts...

I'm going to switch to Ortho and Provera due to not seeing breast changes. I'll let you know if the bleeding stops. Not only is it highly annoying because I never know if it's going to be more but I'm worried it's not working and my body doesn't really think it is pregnant. How long did it take you to see breast changes on the Yasmin?

Yes it was rough.. My body went into several years of storms is how I put it. I had just turned 20 when they yanked ovaries and all out. No matter how much hormone replacement they gave me.. At 20 I still had hot flashes ughhh!

I was just told by my pharmacist that it's the extra progesterone that's causing the break through bleeding.
In the regular protocol they suggest just taking ortho 1/35, correct? Is the extra progesterone necessary? I have 4 months until possiblity of a referral....so I don't need to be on the accelerated (and therefore the provera), do I?
