I'm fortunate enough to be a stay at home mom. Before I had kids I worked for the Canadian Government, and I went back for a while after my first was 4 months old... it was right after September 11th and my husband lost his job... he's tech so it was a hard year until things could get straightened out for his work. Anyway, there was a breastfeeding room with everything I needed, a couch, a bed, chairs, sink, freezer, it was great. I was pumping for a bio baby though, so no experience in terms of reaction. It was great though, I told my boss I needed to pump every two hours, and he didn't make me take it out of my breaks... not that I always took a break too, but it was nice to know if I wanted to run and grab a Sub or something I wouldn't have to skip pumping.

mommy2three ~ Amazing how accepting your job was of breastfeeding!!! Is that a Canadian thing? Especially for government! I'm amazed! I have rarely heard of that in the US in anyplace other than a few private-industry places...most definetly not government!!! Even where I work, our biomoms have to take it out of their breaks for the most part. Not a good thing!!! Thankfully, I won't be going back full-time!!!!!

Any other experiences???

I worked for the Canadian equivelant of the IRS... and I was secretary for the Director of the building, so I ony had to answer to him, and as long as everything he needed was done, he didn't care what I did. I was able to do everything he needed me to keep track of in about 4hrs of my day, I spent the rest of the day advising and helping out the other secretaries that worked for my bosses subordinates. So, yes, he was great. The room was a nurses station that we took over, since the building hadn't employed a nurse for as long as anyone could remember. It is mostly women that work there, and I'm sure it wasn't a government wide policy, but it was working for our building.

So...does anyone think that a birthmother would NOT pick a couple based on the adoptive mother's plan to bf?
