I started taking Yasmin 2.5 weeks ago. (I had 1 pack left over from the last time I did the regular protocol). I am planning on switching to Necon in a few days.

1. Should I allow myself to have a period or jump right to the Necon without taking any of the Yasmin "sugar pills"?

I have been on dom since I began the regular protocol in 9/04. I had weaned down to just 1 pill once a day. When I began taking the Yasmin 2.5 weeks ago, I started upping my dom dosage. I plan on reaching the full amount when I start the Necon.

2. Is it better to take (2) dom pills 4X a day or (3) dom pills 3X a day.

3. When in relation to the clock and to eating?

I am planning on adding Provera 2.5. I already have a prescription and was going to fill it when I filled the Necon.

4. Do I take (1) Provera pill once a day or break it in 1/2 and take 1/2 twice a day?

5. When in relation to the clock, eating and the BCP?

My DS who is 21 months old is still nursing once a day (and sometimes twice). I have not noticed a difference in how long he nurses.

6. Could my milk be increasing due to the addition of more dom rather than decreasing due to the BCP?

7. Will his continued nursing be a help or a hindrance in the A. formation of more breastmilk making tissue and B. in inducing a milk supply.

8. Could any of part of the protocol harm him in anyway?

9. What effect will adding the Provera have on my current supply more than likely?

Thank you so much! I realize these are a LOT of questions.

Peace & Blessings~

Kalli, I don't know on anything related to provera. I am sure Nona or Lenore will answer those.
1) I would not let yourself have a period. Go straight to Necon without the sugar pills or the month on the Yasmin si basically a waste.
2) I would say for convenience sake 3 3x a day is best. That and you are actually getting 90 mg instead of 80
3) taking dom with meals works well.
6) It may not be having much affect at all with just a small amount of nursing.
7) It will not hinder your success. smile
8) I don't believe any part will hurt him but like I said I don't know about the added provera.

Kalli,

Just take your Provera with your BCP in the morning. Try to take the domperidone 30 minutes before you eat. Your sons nursing will not effect your progress at all. At first you might have a little increase in your milk. But as the BCP get into your sytem good it will dry your milk up. But you can always use a lact-aid. This is what I do with my daughter.

So is it more important to take the dom before meals than it is to space it out evenly. I've been trying to space it out during the day....like 8 am, 3 pm, and 10 pm, but except for the am one the others are not before meals. So should I do 30 mins before each meal instead?

very good question ergent7!

I also have another one. I actually take my BCP at night right before I go to bed. Is taking the Provera at night along with the BCP fine? Or, should I really be taking them in the morning?

you can take them at night. You just need to be consistent with when you take them.

I think taking Dom before a meal helps with absorption and helps eliminate the upset tummy some get. Is that right Nona?

1. Since you are not taking the Necon for contraception, it's for the milk making structures of your breast, you jump right to the Necon without taking any of the Yasmin "sugar pills".

2. Is it better to take (2) dom pills 4X a day or (3) dom pills 3X a day? That's up to you.

3. When in relation to the clock and to eating? Space it out at least 5-6 hours apart. Before meals makes for better absorption but so does taking it 90 minutes after a meal so you can alternate during the day to space it out well.

I am planning on adding Provera 2.5. I already have a prescription and was going to fill it when I filled the Necon.

4. Do I take (1) Provera pill once a day or break it in 1/2 and take 1/2 twice a day? Either way works well.

5. When in relation to the clock, eating and the BCP? Most moms take their bcp at night before bed because sometimes it can make you queasy if you take it in the AM.

My DS who is 21 months old is still nursing once a day (and sometimes twice). I have not noticed a difference in how long he nurses.

6. Could my milk be increasing due to the addition of more dom rather than decreasing due to the BCP? Yes. The bcp actually suppresses milk production while it is helping to build the milk making structures.

7. Will his continued nursing be a help or a hindrance in the A. formation of more breastmilk making tissue and B. in inducing a milk supply. Many mothers continue breastfeeding during pregnancy. Since the protocols are designed to mimic pregnancy, the effect is similar. It's not necessary to wean before you or your baby is ready.

8. Could any of part of the protocol harm him in anyway? Many mothers take birth control pills and breastfeed. Many mothers stay on domperiodne until they wean.

9. What effect will adding the Provera have on my current supply more than likely? Provera will help build breast tissue but may hinder supply.

Please discuss all of this with your doctor.

Best, Lenore
