I was wondering if anyone had any advice regarding going back on the BCP protocol after pumping to try and increase breast development. Has anyone done this successfully?

Before starting to pump I took estrogen + 5mg provera (not Yasmin) for 2 months, along with dom as prescribed, but found I didn't have much milk production despite pumping 20 minutes 8 times a day + herbs + dom for 5 weeks - maximum 1.5 ounces total in 24 hours.

Since we don't yet know when the adoption will be completed and expect to have 30-60 days to travel from the date of referral, I and my doctor, an endocrinologist, thought it might be best to go back and take Yasmin until a referral comes through. I started Yasmin Thursday last week, along with the dom 120mg/day and no herbs, and have effectively stopped pumping. For the moment I still pump once a day, in the morning, because I am feeling full and sore and am now getting as much as 1.5 ounces in a single pumping, more than I ever did before.

Is this normal? Should I stop pumping completely? Should I go off the BCP and resume pumping 8X/day? Any suggestions?

I would wean off the pump and stay on the protocol. The longer you take the bcp and the dom the better and it sounds like you have time. You could stay on it until placement. Go off the bcp continue dom add herbs and nurse with a lact-aid system followed by pumping until your supply is established. That way you wouldn't be pumping around the clock prior to traveling.

I would go back on the protocol. The longer your on it the better your supply will be.

Thanks for the advice everyone, I will stay on the protocol until we get word of a date. I expect to eventually stop pumping, currently only once a day, assuming the morning tenderness/fullness will eventually subside. At the moment I feel I have to pump to get some relief. Will that affect the success of the protocol and breast development? I've read in other posts that one shouldn't touch the breasts while on the protocol, but didn't quite understand why. I am still getting about an ounce during this one session.

You need to taper off the pumping. Stop entirely as soon as you can. This is because the protocol is preparation for your breasts and pumping is stimulating them to do something you don't wan them to do yet. So in a sense it confuses things.

Thanks, I will try to do so. I haven't yet pumped today although the feeling of pressure and nipple sensitivity is building. I didn't really experience those sensations in the two months I was previously on the protocol. Is that to be expected or am I still feeling the effects of the milk production mode?
